Laguna Beach, CA

Spring break this year felt like the kind of getaway you wish you could bottle up and relive, and our stay at Laguna Surf Lodge by SCP Hotels made it even more memorable. Tucked right along the ocean in the heart of Laguna Beach, the moment we arrived, it felt like we had stepped into a calm, coastal sanctuary where the sound of waves replaces the usual noise of everyday life. Traveling as a family of five, we stayed in Room 501, and it honestly felt like the perfect setup for both togetherness and personal space. The layout included a cozy bunk bed room that the kids immediately claimed as their own little hideout, a comfortable queen bedroom for a restful night’s sleep, and a living room with a pull-out couch that made evenings feel relaxed and homey after long beach days. It had that effortless beach-house vibe—simple, airy, and designed for unwinding.

What stood out most about the lodge was how intentionally everything was designed to help you slow down. The rooms are modern yet calming, with thoughtful touches like air purifiers, coffee and tea setups, and soft, relaxing ambiance that makes you want to linger a little longer. Laguna Surf Lodge by SCP Hotels is known for its eco-conscious approach and peaceful atmosphere, creating a stay that feels both refreshing and meaningful. Just steps outside, you’re greeted with direct beach access overlooking the famous Thalia Street surf break, so mornings naturally turned into barefoot walks along the sand and evenings into sunset watching from our balcony. The hotel also offers amenities that made traveling with family easy and enjoyable, like a hot tub to unwind in after a long day, complimentary tea, beach access with gear, valet parking, and a welcoming, family-friendly environment. Everything felt simple but intentional, nothing over-the-top, just exactly what you need for a relaxing coastal escape.

One of the best parts of staying here is how walkable everything is. You can leave your car behind and explore some of Laguna Beach’s best dining spots just minutes away. For a scenic oceanfront meal, we loved dining at The Cliff Restaurant, where the views alone are worth the visit. If you’re craving something casual and family-friendly, Taco Loco is a must-try for fresh, flavorful Mexican food just a short walk away. We also enjoyed simply strolling along Pacific Coast Highway, discovering coffee shops, small boutiques, and local eateries that give Laguna its laid-back charm.

What made this trip special wasn’t just the destination, but how easy everything felt. From the spacious family-friendly layout of Room 501 to the sound of waves right outside our door, every moment felt relaxed and connected. It was the kind of place where mornings started slow, afternoons were spent by the ocean, and nights ended with everyone gathered in the living room, tired but happy. Staying at Laguna Surf Lodge by SCP Hotels reminded us that sometimes the best vacations aren’t about doing more—but about finding the perfect place to simply be together.
